Eighty feet underground is a pretty good spot for a haunted house. Lewisburg Haunted Cave puts you in a real limestone cave for about an hour, with live bats along with the demons and ghouls. It's loud, wet and dirty. Wear old shoes. There's no set age limit, but everyone has to be able to walk on their own.

The biggest setup is Land of Illusion Haunted Scream Park in Middletown, with six attractions, including a one-mile haunted trail, and more than 200 monsters roaming around. They recommend it for 13 and up. Closer in, Dayton Scream Park is $25, and here's an odd but useful tip: if your GPS doesn't recognize the Wrightway Road address, plug in 5117 Valley Pike instead. For families, Young's Jersey Dairy Haunted Wagon Rides & Scary Stories in Yellow Springs starts with storytellers, then hauls everyone out to a dark cornfield. The chainsaws have no chains, and nobody touches or chases you.
