Cornfields, mostly. Only places that posted 2026 dates make this list, so the Fresno one is short, and most of it is out on farms. I'd start with Raisin Hell Ranch Haunted Cornfield in Madera, which runs two haunted cornfield trails, one with chainsaws, plus a ghost-town midway and a bar. Plan ahead, though: entry slots are limited, and only pre-purchased tickets are guaranteed to get in. Fresno Fright Nights is the other big one, with a quarter-mile chemical plant haunt and a barge ride through a cursed bayou. FYI: costumes there are for kids 10 and under only, and no masks for teens or adults.

Got kids along? Ranch of Horror in Chowchilla has some not-so-scary options, including a guided hay maze where little ones wear ghost-busting gear. And the strangest pick on the list is an 18+ overnight fundraiser at the historic Crest Theatre. You sleep in the theater with a movie and a nonstop live feed of the basement. Bring a sleeping bag. A pop-up tent is apparently fine too.
